Finding the right therapist can make a meaningful difference in how comfortable you feel opening up, exploring difficult experiences, and working toward change. At Anchored Therapy Centre, we believe therapy begins with finding a therapist you feel safe, understood, and comfortable with.

We are pleased to introduce Jacqueline Brun, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), who provides individual therapy, teen therapy, couples therapy, and marriage counselling in Mississauga, Georgetown, and Milton, with virtual therapy available to clients across Ontario.

Jacqueline brings warmth, curiosity, compassion, and a genuine interest in understanding each person beyond the challenges that brought them to therapy.

A Different Path Led Jacqueline to Counselling

Jacqueline's path to becoming a therapist was not a straight line.

When she began university, she initially planned to become a veterinarian. That changed after taking her first psychology course, where she discovered a deep curiosity about people, relationships, emotions, and the experiences that shape who we become.

As her studies continued, Jacqueline realized that counselling offered an opportunity to help people feel genuinely seen and supported during some of life's more difficult moments.

Her experiences working with children, teens, families, and athletes through gymnastics coaching further shaped her understanding of how important it is to meet people where they are.

She believes therapy should not be a one-size-fits-all experience. Every person brings their own history, relationships, values, culture, strengths, and challenges into the room. For Jacqueline, building trust and creating a comfortable therapeutic relationship are essential parts of meaningful therapy.

A Therapy Space Where You Can Feel Comfortable Being Yourself

Reaching out for therapy is not always easy. You may know that something needs to change but feel unsure about where to begin. You may be experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, burnout, low self-esteem, or a major life transition without knowing exactly what kind of support would help.

Jacqueline approaches these moments with warmth and compassion.

Rather than rushing to provide answers, she takes time to understand what you are experiencing and what you hope will feel different. Therapy with Jacqueline is collaborative, meaning you can work together to explore your concerns, develop greater self-understanding, and identify meaningful steps forward.

Her goal is to create a space where you can slow down, feel heard, and explore what is happening without feeling judged.

Supporting Teens, Adults, Couples and Families

Jacqueline provides therapy for teens and adults experiencing a range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and persistent worry

  • Depression and low mood

  • Grief and loss

  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion

  • Major life transitions

  • Low self-esteem and confidence

  • Emotional regulation difficulties

  • Relationship concerns

  • Communication difficulties

  • Conflict and disconnection

  • Performance pressure and perfectionism

  • Mental blocks and confidence challenges

She also works with couples who may be experiencing recurring conflict, emotional distance, communication difficulties, or a sense that they are no longer feeling heard or understood by one another.

For couples seeking couples therapy or marriage counselling in Mississauga, Georgetown, or Milton, Jacqueline provides a supportive environment where both partners can explore their experiences and work toward greater understanding and connection.

A Special Interest in Athletes and Performance

Jacqueline's background in gymnastics coaching has given her a unique perspective on the emotional experiences that can accompany athletic performance.

Athletes can experience tremendous pressure to perform, improve, compete, and meet expectations. Behind the physical training, there can also be fear of failure, perfectionism, self-doubt, performance anxiety, setbacks, and mental blocks.

Jacqueline has supported athletes and families through these experiences and has a particular interest in helping athletes explore the emotional side of performance.

Therapy can provide athletes with a space to understand the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, confidence, identity, and performance while developing healthier ways of responding to pressure and setbacks.

Jacqueline's Approach to Therapy

Jacqueline takes an integrative, person-centred, attachment-based, and trauma-informed approach to psychotherapy.

Rather than relying on one therapeutic method for every client, she draws from different approaches depending on the individual's needs and goals.

Her clinical approach incorporates:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Mindfulness

  • Somatic approaches

  • Attachment-based therapy

  • Trauma-informed care

This allows therapy to remain flexible and individualized.

Jacqueline also practices with cultural humility and welcomes clients from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQ2S+ individuals and couples.

Jacqueline's Understanding of Grief and Life Transitions

Jacqueline understands that life transitions can bring a mixture of emotions that are difficult to make sense of.

Moving away from home, experiencing grief or loss, entering a new stage of life, or navigating unexpected changes can leave you feeling uncertain about what comes next.

Her own experiences with significant transitions have contributed to the empathy and perspective she brings to her work. She understands that there is no single right way to move through difficult experiences.

Therapy can offer a place to process what has happened, understand what you are feeling, and gradually find a way forward that feels meaningful to you.

Why Jacqueline Joined Anchored Therapy Centre

Jacqueline was carefully selected to join Anchored Therapy Centre because of her clinical interests, experience, thoughtful approach, and commitment to compassionate, client-centred care.

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) completing her practice hours for her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Jacqueline practices under the ongoing clinical supervision of an experienced Registered Psychotherapist and clinical supervisor.

This ongoing supervision supports Jacqueline's professional development while helping ensure thoughtful and ethical clinical practice.

She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology as well as a postgraduate certificate in addictions and mental health.

Therapy That Meets You Where You Are

Jacqueline believes therapy does not have to be about having everything figured out before you begin.

Sometimes, you simply know that you are struggling, feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck. Sometimes you are experiencing a specific concern such as anxiety, grief, relationship conflict, burnout, or low confidence. And sometimes you simply want a space to better understand yourself and what you want from your life and relationships.

Wherever you are starting from, Jacqueline's goal is to meet you there.

She works collaboratively with clients and allows the therapeutic process to develop at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable.

Get to Know Jacqueline Outside the Therapy Room

Outside of therapy, Jacqueline enjoys getting lost in a good book, playing board games, and spending time with family and friends.

She also enjoys learning and trying new things through movement and creative projects, especially when they are simply enjoyable and absorbing.

For Jacqueline, these moments of curiosity, connection, and play are important reminders that life is about more than simply getting through difficult seasons.
