A Bit About Me

Twelve years ago, I lost my best friend to suicide after their silent battle with depression. That loss did more than break me—it reshaped how I see mental health and became one of the reasons I chose to dedicate my life to helping others. It gave me a deep understanding of what it feels like to struggle in silence and a commitment to walk beside those who are ready to find hope, healing, and a way forward.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, teens, adults, and couples through challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, eating disorders, low self-esteem, and cultural identity conflicts. Coming from a South Asian background, I know how strong the stigma around mental health can be in many communities. This awareness has shaped the way I practice—I strive to create a space that is safe, nonjudgmental, and truly yours, where you can bring down your guard and share your story at your own pace.

I offer clients a safe and supportive environment at the Anchored Therapy Centre office, serving clients from Mississauga, Georgetown, Milton, Halton Hills, Acton, Oakville, and surroundings while offering online counselling across Ontario. Whether you're seeking individual counselling, marriage counselling, children/adolescents counselling, or couples counselling, we're here for you.

Shivani's Story

Shivani is a warm, thoughtful, and relationship therapist who is passionate about helping individuals, teens, and couples navigate emotional challenges with care, self-awareness, and respect. Her lived experience as a South Asian woman informs her deep understanding of identity, belonging, and the emotional impact of cultural and intergenerational expectations. Shivani is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and her clinical training included supporting clients facing anxiety, self-worth issues, anger, relationship concerns, grief, domestic violence, eating disorders, life transitions, and trauma.

Shivani has supported community members through volunteer roles and she takes a trauma-informed, integrative approach shaped by each client’s unique needs. She draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based practices, and attachment-based work to create a therapeutic space that is collaborative, flexible, and client-centred. Shivani brings warmth and care into every session. Her goal is to co-create a safe and affirming space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered in their healing.

Outside of therapy, she enjoys singing—having trained in classical music for over 11 years and opera for 2 years—and occasionally performs at summer festivals. She also enjoys nature walks, traveling, trying new recipes, and spending time with family and friends.

Shivani offers individual counselling, marriage counselling, teen therapy, and couples therapy in Mississauga, Georgetown, Milton, and surroundings, as well as online therapy across Ontario. Her goal is to create a safe, supportive, and affirming space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to take steps toward meaningful healing.
